Hello and Assalamo Alaikum,
As I posted some days back about my DropCatch account got suspended, they required document to verify my account which I provided. After which they reinstated my account by responding the following:
“Thank you for providing your ID. You are now able to place back-orders and bid in auctions. Your account was suspended because it was tied to four other accounts from Pakistan that were suspended in a short amount of time for failing to pay for domains won in auction. This behavior raised warning flages with us for possible shill bidding and so we took pre-emtive action.
In our terms of service we clearly state that we reserve the right to suspend any account for any reason. See sections .18 and .20 for full details. Also we are not obligated to provide warning before we suspend an account if we beleive our rules are being violated. https://www.dropcatch.com/OtherInfo/TermsAndConditions
We wish this wasn’t the case but there are people who try to game the system and they use all sorts of strategies to do so. We try to be as proactive and correct as possible, but in some cases we don’t always get it right. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we hope you can see our reasoning that we have to protect the platform and all of our customers, not just one individual.”
The reason for sharing this is it can happen with anyone at anytime as per their T&C. This in my opinion is really unfair that if there were 4 other accounts from Pakistan who were suspended for failing to pay for domains so my account got suspended as well. I can understand if it was automated or done for security reasons but they could’ve easily look into each account manually and reinstated my account as I’ve been buying domains through DropCatch since 2014 with no single time delay in making payment!
I’m very disappointed by their behavior and also when I published the same issue at NamePros and tagged their support team members, I got no response whatsoever from them.
You were racially profiled because you are Pakistani, very sad fact, but racism still exists in America, and beyond. Can you imagine if this happend in the US, never, only because you are from Paskistan, didn’t Flippa do the same to you? Sorry you had to go thru this.
Thanks for giving me this angle to think about which I never about until now. That could be the case but I’m not sure about it what exactly happened at the back end. But cannot ignore this reason too… As for Flippa, that case was a bit different. I’d my family members who wanted to learn about domaining opened account from same IP and during that period they (2 person excluding myself using same IP) were learning and when started using Flippa with my guidance, Flippa banned all of our accounts. I responded but as usual their poor support didn’t… Read more »
Some bad apples ruin it for others.
It is not specific to Pakistan or Pakistani, it happens with people of many countries. Actually it can also happen if you are in developed countries like USA/Canada/UK etc.
Systems rely on the security filters/models and it can happen.
Thanks for sharing your point of view which is appreciated. Since there is no proof I was targeted racially so I cannot take it that way any further. In most cases, it’s the same problem like you said of some bad apples ruin it for other good people. They’re always going to exist and ruin the entire world. The only issue I still have is they should’ve reinstated my account after going through all those 4 accounts who failed to make payment and I’ve been making payments without any delay since 2014 so it’s pretty easy to check and give… Read more »
