Afternic experiment of July 2020

Hello everyone,

It’s been a great year in terms of getting lot of surprises. Some in a good way and some not so good…

The last couple of months before July were absolutely great and full of surprises and July was no doubt was another unexpected month but in a different way which I never want to have it. LOL

This is the seventh post of the Afternic experiment series after I publishedย January, February, March, April, May and June results which Iโ€™m hopeful that you’ll find it interesting.

It was the worst month in terms of number and amount of sales this year at Afternic by just having 3 domain sales. Also with the biggest gap between sales and I was a bit upset to see no sales for so many days continuously which was an eye opener for me. This confirmed my long term set goal where I want to increase my portfolio with a few more thousands of domain to get rid of this inconsistency and I believe this will happen with the addition of at least 2,000 more domains added with the current 4,050 domains.

The first sale happened on 17th July of for $2,988 via Afternic sales lander.

Second was a big relief in the shape of for $9,888. Both of these sales were via BIN. This one was sold via

The last sale of for $2,500 via GoDaddy lander and actually happened on 1st August (Malaysia time) but according to Afternic report and their timing, this took place on 31st July. was having $2,988 BIN but after negotiation, I eventually agreed to sell for $2,500 to keep things moving.

Total number of inquiries received were little under 550.

On the other hand, my friend Muhammad Aamir from DotCorner was happy to share once again his July sales which are shared below: for $4,000 and for $6,500.

I’ve seen July was slowest month for many domain investors including myself and Muhammad Aamir. But there were some investors who shared with me of July as their best month of this year. It’s good to see overall things are in a good shape for domain investing.

I hope this August will be a better month than last one and wish everyone the very best ๐Ÿ™‚

Feel free to give your feedback no matter how good or good it is ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thank you for reporting on your July experiment .Still good you have some sales. Some big sales will help to make up for other months when there is slow sales activity .

Don’t be surprised to make 6 figures in another month though. Some big domain sales are unpredictable and unexpected but the good names make it happen.

Did you turn down offers ?If you did, that may have been a part but better not to leave too much on the table except for more cash flows.

Thank you for sharing your sales info.

Remember, we are in the middle of summer… and in the middle of killer pandemic!! Double whammy.

I am having great summer and year…will doubled last year’s sales. Most are coming from Afternic BIN and GD/UNI brokers. Some on my own brokerage via UNI landers.

Continued success and stay healthy!

It is part of the business and specially during the times of Covid.

Some days are good and some days are not so good and so are the numbers.

Let’s just keep moving forward and let it not hinder the cash flow.

Wish you great numbers in the coming months Abdul bhai.

Hiya Abdul, hope you are great!

There is no such thing as a slow month or even a bad month.

You have had sales, regardless how they are they are still sales correct?

Congratulations, every sale counts and you keep encouraging others to keep at this domain industry to help it grow,

It is nice that you are keeping your experiment going for over half a year now.

Keep up the good work, Matt Morgan.

Hi Abdul, Congrats on your July 2020 sales. As always, very interesting to read your posts and keep getting encouraged and motivated with your sales :). Inspired by your Afternic experiment, I decided to move my tiny little portfolio to Afternic Sales landers (ns3 / ns4) in mid Jun 2020 and BOOM ! I got my first sale there in mid July ๐Ÿ™‚ . I sold MENAHub (com) for USD 1995. Thanks and keep the motivational ball rolling Bro! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for your post – very interesting! (seems like you still you made a profit at least, despite very few sales)

How did you decide to price with a bin of $9888?

From a very quick Google search, I don’t see the obvious value for the domain.
