Hello everyone,
April was a record breaking one in terms of number of sales where a total 22 sales happened. And last month, there were only 12 sales which was a bit disappointing to see because both numbers were less and the total amount of sales were down too.
Like I’ve discussed it many times, one of the biggest challenges in domain business is the inconsistency and one can only manage this by growing their size of domain portfolio with quality domains. And I say it once again that the number of domains do play a major role in having sales with consistency.
So let me share the domain sales of last month:
FenceCompany.com – This was the first sale of the month and the best one too. It sold for a whopping $32,888 and sold via partner registrar of Afternic. Hold time around 3 years.
Chookas.com – Acquired via GoDaddy closeouts a couple of years back and sold it for $3,988 via partner registrar of Afternic. If you Google the term “chookas”, you’ll find this information “It’s a uniquely Australian expression which dancers and performers say to one another backstage just as the performance is about to begin. It loosely translates as “break a leg or good luck”.
RoseHillHome.com – Acquired a couple of years back and sold it for $1,988 via GoDaddy registration path.
HorizonAutomotive.com – Another BIN via partner registrar at $2,988. A two word brandable domain for an automotive company. Hold time 2 years and another closeout purchase.
CreoGroup.com – A sale via Afternic price request lander for the full BIN price of $9,888. Sensible “group” keyword domains always do well like I’ve mentioned in several of my previous posts. Of course, you’ve to price it accordingly as well. Hold time around 5 years.
JbjConstruction.com – GoDaddy registration path sale at full BIN price of $1,988. Another GD closeout purchase a couple of years back.
SnapVentures.com – Another GD registration path sale for $1,988.
VeraGreen.com – And another GD registration path sale at BIN of $1,988. Acquired via GD auctions around 3 years back.
AnimalWelfare.org – Partner registrar sale $3,988. IMO, this fits very well with the extension. Hold time around 5 years.
JN66.com – Partner registrar sale happened for $2,988. I don’t really invest in LLNN domains but this one was interesting to me mainly due to repeating numbers.
Sinala.com – GD search path sale for $5,888 and hold time around 6 years.
KauaiVacation.com – Afternic price request lander sale $3,500. I hardly invest in geo domains and this was actually negotiated down from the original BIN price of $4,888. Hold time around 5 years.
There were a total of 12 sales and 4 of them sold for $1,988 each. The main reason I believe is that a little over 30% of my portfolio is priced at $1,988.
The number of inquiries for May 2024 was almost 1,500 which got better than the previous month. The total number of domains at the end of May 2024 were a little over 9,500.
5 were partner registrar sales.
5 sales via GoDaddy search path.
2 sales via Afternic lander.
Total acquisition + holding costs was around $3,500 and the total amount of sales was $74,068.
I wanted to thank my Afternic rep Adam Ramsdell and the brokers who were involved in making the deals smoothly and professionally.
I wish everyone a great month ahead and have a lot of sales. Feel free to share your sales and give your feedback on mine if you like to. It doesnβt matter how good or good the feedback is
Thank you for taking the time to share this! May was a slow month.
Thank you Maurice!
Yeah, it was slower than April for many investors.
But you will always see inconsistency in domain sales. It is not related to portfolio size. Hugedomains don’t have consistency in their sales and Mike Mann does not have consistency. Just the scale is different. Its important to accept it. I’m talking to myself now too π
If you can grow your portfolio with good quality of domains, you can reduce the inconsistency at the same time. It all depends then how many domains you’ve and of what quality. I’m having less inconsistency as of today if I compare when my portfolio size was 5,000 domains.
Great sales, Thanks for sharing ????
Thank you Harmandeep bhai π
Congratulations and thank you very much for your willingness to share the details of your successes. I wish you many more!
Thank you so much for your feedback Aaron! π
Best wishes!
Thanks for sharing such great post. Amazing sales! Congrats
Thanks Zubair brother! I’m glad you liked it π
Appreciate the monthly updates. We use Afternic exclusively but realized that Afternic-listed names aren’t listed automatically on Dan. Using a Dan lander from within your Afternic account makes the domain searchable on Dan but that only works for names with BIN. “Make offer” names listed on Afternic are not searchable on Dan, Seems like best strategy for most exposure is to list on Dan with Dan name servers and then add names to Afternic account. I wonder what others have experienced
Thanks for your feedback and sharing your experience.
I haven’t tried it your way of listing so I can’t say in this regard but it would be interesting to hear any comment from someone with similar experience of yours.
From our observation, Dan is an important marketplace and a huge source of leads and potential sales. Not having names searchable on Dan is a drawback and the only way to make sure they are is to follow what I have outlined – or so it seems based on our experience.
Before I had a bad experience with Dan, I had all my domains listed with Dan as well and using Afternic lander. But I didn’t find it useful to simply list my domains with Dan and not using their lander.
Thanks for sharing. Very insightful as always.
Thank you so much! π
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks rjb π
Nice sales. Congratulations.
Thank you Ibrahim brother π
Thank you for sharing ABM.Having the skil to spot good quality names and how to price are both needed skills to scale in this business .Biggest skill is patience .
Thanks Meka for your feedback. I totally agree with you! π
Thanks, as always, for sharing your experience
Thank you Andrew! π
Congrats on another solid month mate. Well done yet again.
Thank you so much Matt! I hope you’re doing well and I appreciate you giving feedback and time.
Thanks a lot for sharing so detailed info!. It confirms the low quality of my portfolio. You get 1500 inquiries/month for 9500 domains: 15%!!. I get 5/month for 3000 domains: 0.16%…
But, you sell 12 of 1500 inquiries: 0.8% and I sell 0.66 of 5 inquiries: 13%
Don’t know how to interpret that
Thank you Alvaro!
Although the number of leads were very close to 1,500 but the number of engaged leads were in low 3 digits. So you can probably assume that most are non-serious and/or looking for something else.
That’s why the conversion rate into successful sales is too low.
Once again, thank you for what you do, and I wish you and everyone more sales
Please, how do you manage your 9800 domains? Do you use a program or what? (I look forward to the answer)
Thank you Rachid! I’m happy to know you liked it. Well wishes to you as well π
Currently I’ve 9,500 and it will take some months to reach 9,800 π
I use Excel sheet to manage my domains and have different folders made at my registrar Dynadot to differentiate for whatever reasons I’ve.
Thank you Abdul Basit for the answer, I appreciate it ????
Thanks for sharing, but how did you calculate the holding costs? With 9500+ domains your monthly renewal cost alone would be a lot more than the $3500 you quoted. Was renewal not included and it was mainly only acquisition cost?
Thanks Frank! π
The cost I share every month in the posts include the renewals + transfers + purchases of those particular domains which I share it.
Congrats Abdul! Another stellar month. Thank you for sharing!
Hey Michael!
I hope you’re doing well. Thanks for your feedback.
nice sell sir, can you please mention FenceCompany.com and
CreoGroup.com acquisitions cost?
Thank you Satyadeep brother. Sorry but I usually try to avoid the exact purchase price for domains.
“Quality+HODL”=SUCCESS
Haha that’s right!
Thanks for commenting.
Aslam o alaikum Abdul Basit bahi,
Very impressive sales!!! This is the fruit of effort! I wish you all the best.
WaAlaikum Salam Anjum brother!
Thanks for your feedback and wish you all the best as well π
Congrats Abdulbasit. Great sales as usual.
Thanks Belqassim π
Excellent sales data! Thank you for sharing. Are you still using Afternic NS3&4 landers?
Thanks dear π
Yeah, I’m still using ns3/ns4 (price request lander).
What is your take on domains with no registration gaps? Do you see these as more valuable?
Do you mean the domains which are dropped and grabbed instantly?
Yes those. and also domains that have never been deleted.
Yeah, those domains are more valuable but of course not all domains are good. You’ve to dig in deep and find the good ones.
Hello from Germany π
I like your blog so much. It gives me a good overview of what is important when trading domain names & what kind of returns are possible. I am new to the business and still have a lot to learn, so I am informing myself.
Thank you for sharing all this information with us^^
Greets, Franny
Hi Franny!
Thanks for your feedback and commenting on this post. I’m glad you liked it and you’re learning which is very important to do before you invest any money in buying domains. Give some good time to learn.
Best wishes! π
I will definitely do that. Every day a little more π
Thank you, also for you. See you
Sounds very good! π
