Hello everyone,
I haven’t posted since few days and after my comeback today I wanted to share something really interesting with you all. Here in Karachi there is a Dolmen Mall and inside there is a play area for all ages named Sindbad Wonderland. All games under that play area and anywhere in our country are played with coins; the old system. But recently they came up with card system which we need to load and swipe it before the ride/games start.
It’s necessary to purchase the card before we can play any game so when I went with my family there for the first time I needed to buy one and load it. I had to give you some background about Sindbad Wonderland above before I tell you something really funny about them.
Below you can see my Sindbad Wonderland card both front and backside:
When I got home I read this card and found they have website address mentioned on it and that too in bold. I decided to check and see what was developed. To my surprising I found the domain was available!! I registered it and put on parking and it gets few visitors daily. After checking this domain through Archive.org I found it was owned by them but somehow they let it go. Now this is not something new for me because I can sometimes find an ad in magazine/newspaper and can see the website address but again that is available to register.
If you check their about page on Facebook you will see the URL is also the same. Thanks to them for promoting my domain π
I will share something like this in my coming posts so stay tuned and don’t forget to post your comments on this funny story π Also if you had any experience like this before just feel free to share π
Your blog is on my list of blogs that I try to check daily.
I used to post my replies on your blog [not sure if you remember me] but haven’t been doing this lately. Now I’m back into a “response/reply” mode.
Thanks a lot for your posts man!
And of course, great job for securing the domain name mentioned in this post! The main point in your story [at least how I see it] – to be proactive. Well done and thanks again!
Ok, here goes. Why would you buy this domain?
Are there other businesses who would benefit or are you hoping to sell the domain back to them?
I bought to see if I can make some bucks through parking. Although I don’t buy such type of purchases where there is only one enduser and in this case they are the only one potential buyer. If this domain makes enough money through parking to renew itself than I would keep it. Otherwise, simply drop next year… I am not going to contact them right now because the more people coming to that play area the more cards are distributed with MY domain being promoted π I may try to get in touch with them some time before the… Read more »
Mark, Thanks for the compliment and sharing your view. To be honest I am not that active so you may check once or twice my blog for any updates π
It will be great to see you in active mode (posting comments on my blog).
I agree with your point. It was a good catch and it’s funny to see they are still giving away new cards to every new person with same URL mentioned on it. I just checked this couple of days back.
Thanks for coming and keep reading as many more interesting stuff to come π
Abdul,
I have a similar story. There is a real estate company in the New York area that uses a program called eEdge. I checked and they do not have a trademark because I don’t want any potential lawsuit problem. But this parked page is making me consistent money. I like your story better π
Adi, Thanks for sharing your story. I like your domain which has good potential. In coming days I will share a couple more stories like this.
Thanks for coming π
That’s a good one bro, quick thinking, once a domainer, we start to look at everything from that angle. Keep it up.
Thanks Arif π
We domainers get active once we see http://www.something.something anywhere π
