Hello and Assalamo Alaikum,
It’s been long time since I shared my domain sales. For the last couple of months I think including this one too, I had 3 domain sales and one was a real special one. For the first time, we leased our domain with having the buyer to make payment for a period of 24 months and later the domain will be transferred to him.
Several months back, I decided to re-list my domains with Sedo to see how things work for me because in the past I didn’t see much response from there. However, I quickly made 2 sales of Buddy.CO and Smooz.com. I had acquired Buddy.CO for may be $29.99 in 2010 and sold for $7,500. It was decent ROI and I always buy domain keeping in mind that it will take 5 years to get sold if I need fruitful profit out of it. Smooz.com was a nice small sale of $3975.
For Buddy.CO, the buyer started off with $100 offer and at the end it was a good deal for both of us.
The domain which has been leased to sell was actually a deal in 5 figures and making consistent money for a period of 24 months is a great thing and I am happy with this new way of selling domain which might not be new for some but I am sure most domainers would love to sell their domains on lease to buy option.
Finally this week I sold another domain for $15,500. Unfortunately can’t reveal the names of last both sales. It took longer than I anticipated but at the end the deal went smooth and buyer was a great guy to deal with.
Care to share your recent sales? I would love to hear it. Any questions, feedback is welcome no matter how good or good it is 😉
“It took longer than I anticipated” – how long is that?
2 months. Not much but the way communication started off, I though we shall close the deal within couple of weeks at max. But when the buyer is interested in play waiting games to have the price reduction, than I am happy to play the same game 😉
well done! on sedo, did you apply for featured listing or category showcase or just left the domains as normal?
Thanks Majid 🙂
Just left the domain normal. Also none of the name is parked with Sedo so I think the domains which are not parked with them gets less exposure.
Glad to hear from you after long time. Congrats. Nice sales. I got a 100$ offer for a dictionary word. CO yesterday, that I thing equal or more valuable than buddy.co. Hope the buyer will come back with a counter offer.
Thanks mate 🙂
Let all the offers come in as $100 can turn out into 5 figs but normally it doesn’t though. But keep pressing and you never knows which one turns out fruitful for you.
Good luck! 🙂
Always enjoy these posts. Great job and keep up the good work!
Glad you like it and I always enjoy sharing as much as possible 🙂

I agree with you on having a feature on parking platforms where we can start offering on installments of lease it in easy way can help us sell/rent out more domains.
Thanks Ivan for your feedback and hope to see more improvements in parking platforms by 2016.
” a dozen of years have passed since the appearing of the first platforms”
actually the years are even more than a dozen, I guess. So much time that I do not even remember, and we have to say “new way of selling domains”, in 2016…
وعليكم السلام
Spelled the same in Urdu?
Maybe I missed it, but did you mention which platform was used for setting up the lease? I know of a few – just curious which you’re using and how you found the setup process.
Correctly spelled!
The actual inquiry came through DNS platform and I got a lease agreement from net which I modified according to my needs to which both parties agreed upon. Domain will remain with me until the final payment is made. By the way, which platforms you are aware of in this regard?
Thanks for the info.
Leasing platforms – there are a handful out there.
A domainer friend of mine recently moved some of his domains over to Epik, primarily because they offer leasing. So far, I haven’t tried Epik myself. But I have set up installment payment plans through Ecop.com (as a seller) and helped buyer clients who wanted to use Escrow.com in that way. My understanding is that Epik handles the leasing directly, which would be an improvement if they do it well.
Thanks Joseph. Although we keep a pretty low profile, Epik is probably doing more domain leasing transactions than anyone. We were the first to combine a leasing platform with a robust registrar back-end. This allows us to protect both lessor and lessee during the lease. It also means that once the lease is started, we can provide full-service support to the lessee. As a result, it becomes very turn-key. Lease proceeds are deposited commission-free and tax-free into the Lessor’s Masterbucks account, from where the lessee can spend them or cash out. If cashed out, there is just a 5% commission.… Read more »
Sounds interesting and I have never tried keeping domains with Epik. Do you offer this service even if the domain is not registered with Epik? Or we must bring it to Epik for using leasing service at your end?
Congrats Abdul Basit, Like the names you’ve sold. .co seems to be doing well.
Thanks Tauseef brother 🙂
I have made some good money in .CO domains and I always see .CO doing well. Going after good keywords specially 1 word domains in .CO is good idea. Something tech/services/products related does well as more and more startups are showing interest in .CO domains.
Assalamo Alaikum,
Glad to see that you have sold buddy.co 7500. what is your opinion on .co domains. Are one word .co domains are worth 4 figures, if so then what kind of domains sell and in what time frame. Thank you and good luck.
WaAlaikum Salaam Sameeruddin,
I just responded to Tauseef that I am seeing .CO doing well. Going after good keywords specially 1 word domains in .CO is good idea. Something tech/services/products related does well as more and more startups are showing interest in .CO domains. I think to maximize the profit, you will be required to wait 3-5 years. Although you can flip for some less ROI but making a decent sale require some time and .CO is a good extension. Even LLL.CO does well but you have to be careful in choosing which one to buy and leave the rest.
Nice sales there. I especially love buddy.co in particular.
This is a very inspiring post..thank you for sharing.
Thanks Kim. Glad you like it.
.CO has been doing good for me.
W Alaykum Salam,
Alf Mabrook bro, patience and hikma paid off in the long run. Generous of you to give your insight, many thanks and May you be blessed with more to come.
Arif
Thanks for your kind words and I appreciate it. Hope to share many more with you guys 🙂
Hi Abdul,
Congrats on great sale. I enjoy visiting your website every now and then looking for new posts.
How were you able to negotiate from $100 to $7500? 🙂 Did you counter offer like 10K. then you settled on 7.5K? Looking to learn some negotiation tactic. Thank you
Thanks CAS and I am happy to see you enjoyed it 🙂
The buyer started off with 100, 500, 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500, 5500, 6500, 7000, 7250 and finally got done at 7500. LOL. It took less than a week since the first bid. However, I countered with 15K at first.
Let me know if you need any assistance.
Good luck!
Mashallah congrats..
