Hello everyone,
It has been another wonderful last month with Afternic with plenty of sales pouring in especially in the second half of July.
Before I share the sales, I wanted to share a couple of things with everyone:
- It was special to give an interview to Afternic, thanks to James Iles.
- Once I reach 10,000 domains under my portfolio, I’ll stop sharing the monthly experience of Afternic. The main reason for sharing is always to educate fellow investors about what kind of domains I buy, sell and at what prices.
This doesn’t mean I’ll completely stop sharing the domain sales. I’ll definitely continue to share but only those which I find interesting and there is something to learn from.
Coming back to the sales for the last month:
Mayorov.com – Normally I buy U.S people’s names which are relatively easier to sell than others. This is a Russian surname and sold via BIN for $4,888. Hold time 5 years.
StarGourmet.com – Hold time around 5 years and sold it for $1,988 via BIN.
AvalancheServices.com – A two word brandable domain which can be used for any services related business. A nice deal for the buyer who got it for $2,988 via BIN.
AcRepairNearMe.com – Thanks to Logan Flatt for sharing his sales with the “Near Me” keyword. I studied his sales and point of view on why to buy such domains and why they sell it. That’s the beauty of our industry where such fellow investors like Logan and others share it openly.
This domain had a BIN of $4,888 but after going back and forth negotiations with the buyer, I ended up selling it for $4,000. Hold time less than a year.
PetsPrint.com or PetSprint.com (however you read it) – Another BIN sales for $2,988 and interesting thing about this domain is that one can use it for “Pets Print” or “Pet Sprint” and in this case, the buyer is using as Pet Sprint brand. Hold time 4 years.
LegacyGuild.com – Another $1,988 BIN sale and acquired it 2 years ago via GoDaddy closeouts.
Dogerie.com – This had a BIN of $1,988 but after negotiations, the broker was able to strike the deal for $1,750.
VodkaVodka.com – Another $1,988 BIN sale with the hold time of 4 years.
AmplifySuccess.com – Sold it for $2,988 with a holding period of around 1 year.
HelloHolidays.com – Last month I sold HelloGrowth.com for $9,888 and this month I sold HelloHolidays.com for $5,888. Holding time less than 100 days. Thanks to Umair brother for finding this gem and sharing it with me.
Dutts.com – This had a BIN of $3,988 and the buyer initially came via DomainAgents.com with an opening offer of $1,500 which I declined. I proposed with the BIN price which the buyer declined and came back with a revised offer of $2,000. I declined it again and the buyer presented $2,500 and then $3,000. I said to take it or leave it with $3,988 and the buyer pulled the trigger via GoDaddy search path and bought it at BIN price.
Kicks.CO – Like I always say, I love to invest in .CO domains. Whether it be 1 word or 3L. They do pretty well and I’ve a great STR in selling them at decent prices. This one was another BIN sale at $6,888 with holding time of around 6 years.
SunTravels.com – This had a long story where the buyer came in and vanished countless times before buying it for $20,000. This includes a lot of negotiations with the broker. This domain was priced at $29,888. Hold time around 6 years. I know that usually I provide a discount of 10%-15% but in rare cases, I do offer more than that depending on several factors.
Humanable.com – A great brandable domain which has already been in use right now. This domain sold for $9,888 via BIN. Hold time around 1 year.
TeachShare.com – This one had a BIN of $4,888 and I revised my floor price to $4,500 which the buyer accepted. This one hold time was around 4 years.
FamilyChat.com – Acquired privately for mid-high 3 figures and sold it for $8,000. This one had a BIN of $9,888. Hold time more than 3 years.
DynamicGraphics.com – This one had a longer hold time of 6 years and was acquired via SnapNames. Another $2,988 BIN sale.
There were a total of 17 sales and 3 of them sold for $1,988 each which is not usual. Normally there is a good chunk of $1,988 sales.
The number of inquiries for July 2024 just touched 1,600 which is more than the last few months. This was the second best month of this year in terms of number of leads after January. The total number of domains at the end of July 2024 were a touch over 9,800.
3 were partner registrar sales.
8 sales via GoDaddy search path.
6 sales via Afternic lander.
Total acquisition + holding costs (which includes transfers and renewals) was around $4,500 and the total amount of sales was $87,706.
I wanted to thank my Afternic rep Adam Ramsdell and the brokers who were involved in making the deals smoothly and professionally.
The above costs and sales amount may look out of the world for some investors but there is one important thing to keep in mind that I’ve invested in 7 figures (USD) for acquiring and holding those 9,800+ domains. Also just the renewal cost is over $100,000 annually. So there are a lot of expenses and money is invested. But overall, I’m in profit and happy with the progress.
I wish everyone a great month ahead and have a lot of sales. Feel free to share your sales and give your feedback on mine if you like to. It doesn’t matter how good or good the feedback is.
Hi Abdul, your great sales results are an inspiration to many! How do you set domain prices? Any system or tips you can recommend?
Thank you so much Steve! 🙂
How about you check this out and feel free to give your feedback – https://www.abdulbasit.com/domain-monetization/how-do-i-valuate-domains-and-set-an-asking-price
Thanks again for sharing your sales sir, Always learn something new from your sales.
Many thanks Harmandeep bhai 🙂
awesome, just amazing sales! thank you for sharing, AB, true inspiration
Thanks Leo! Your sales are as good as anyone. Keep sharing it brother.
Well great sales but keep sharing the sales as it a great help for a domainer like me…as I always say you are great Bro
..
Thanks Wajid brother. I hope you become full-time domainer soon.
Dear Friend,
What kind of lander you are using for all your domains? BIN lander are you using for any of your domains?
Many thanks
Hi James!
I use “price request/request price” lander for all of my domains. Also, I add BIN+Floor+Reserve+Minimum on all the domains and the BIN price is displayed when someone search at any registrar like GoDaddy.
Thank you Basit bhai for the details and many congratulations on another great month.
Thank you Aamir bhai 🙂
Congrats! some nice sales there, Thank you so much for sharing abdul bhai
Thank you Niz! I always remember my loyal readers who’ve been actively reading my blog.
Thanks for sharing! I hope you don’t reach 10k domains soon 😛
One question. You have around 100k in renewals every year.
How can your monthly cost be only $4500?
Thank you Jim! Hahaha 😀
That $4,500 cost was only for the domains which I’ve shared in this post which includes their acquisitions, renewals, transfers costs altogether.
Thanks.
If I may ask, do you renew your domains every year, or you renew for like 5 years ahead?
IMO, it’s very difficult to renew 5 years in advance for this size of portfolio. I try to stay ahead at least one year ahead in renewals. So far I’ve renewed all of my domains until the end of October 2025.
Thanks for sharing your sales! Your monthly summary is by far the most helpful post of the month in the domain space.
Just curious, what end users & use case(s) did you have in mind for FamilyChat.com? It has decent data points (not super high, but still decent), but I am not sure what sort of businesses would want to establish their presence on this name. What use case(s) did you have in mind for this one?
Thanks Umair brother for your kind words which is really motivating for me 🙂
I always like the way you think and curate your questions.
Family talk time, AI chat app, or something like https://x.com/familychatapp and more.
Changing your focus as you grow makes sense. I am looking forward to your “Interesting” ones!
Randyl
Thank you Randy! I appreciate your feedback. I’ll make sure to continue sharing the sales and I firmly believe those will be good ones to go through.
Best wishes!
Thanks again for sharing! One of the best recourses online to learn domaining.
small question: when you say “sales via GoDaddy search path” you mean someone went to Godaddy searched the name and bought it, right? How do you know if it came from “Godaddy search path” or “partner registrar sales”?
Thanks again.
Wow! Thanks so much for your wonderful feedback which made my day even better 🙂
Yeah, I come to know difference between the GD search path and partner registrar sale from the lead report I receive every month from my account manager Adam at Afternic.
Hi
1/ I notice Afternic lander even when you input BIN price & minimum price it doesn’t show on lander. It shows lander “This domain is available for sale!” with inquiry form?
Basically, regardless of BIN price egtc..will show standard inquiry form
2/ Whereas if enter BIN, min price…DAN.com lander shows BIN price, make an offer (subject to minimum price), lease to own (if applicable) etc
Thoughts?
Hi John!
1) That’s correct. If it’s a “price request lander” then it will show inquiry form on the lander but display BIN price on GD and other partner registrars if you’ve added the BIN price in your Afternic account which I’ve done it.
2) I’m not sure about this thing as I never used Dan lander.
Hi
Are you based physically in KL or Turkey presently?
All the best
My very next post will answer your question 😉
Thanks!
Hi. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, I enjoyed your July 26, 2024 Afternic interview. Can you kindly balance your use of “Request Price” lander.” and your tip for sellers to always add BIN; which is more effective in your opinion? Secondly, what would you offer for TrussFi/com
Thank you Mary!
I’m not sure if I understood your question properly but let me answer:
I use “request price” lander for all of my domains which shows no price on the lander itself. But at the same time, I add BIN/Floor/Minimum/Reserve for all my domains which then shows the BIN price at GoDaddy and all the partner registrars of Afternic.
Hi
In Afternic under Sales>Lead Center>Status, what description means?
Stalled
Confused…
Is it because inquirer enters dummy data instead of real data so quality of data is poor?
Confused could be the person looking for something else other than buying the domain name.
Stalled is marked when the buyer is not responding, not interested, has requested to be contacted at a later stage, etc.
Congratulations Abdul vi
Can I know about the afternic Floor price.
if my bin is 3000$ and if I set floor price 2000$
if buyer offer 2000$ that means I have to sell by 2000$ or I have choice that I can’t sell under 3000$
What is the best price setup between bin and Floor price.
Thank you
Thank you Partha!
I use the same BIN and Floor price for all of my domains. No difference.
Hello Abdul, I hope you and your family are doing well. What an impressive month you’ve had! Your consist sales and success shows you have made your mark in the domain industry. Your ability to strategically acquire and reprice domains really shows your understanding of value and market trends. In your June 2024 report you make a good point regarding hyphenated domains. This shows that not all domains are created equal, and careful selection is key. Your sale of Dutts.com for $3,988 after such extensive negotiations is remarkable! And again shows your expertise in your negotiation skills and market knowledge.… Read more »
Hi Matt!
Thanks for your feedback 🙂
To be frank, most of the sales don’t happen when I remain firm on my BIN or final revised prices but whatever turns into a successful sale like Dutts.com, those are only shared.
I sincerely appreciate your kind words for me and my family and I wish you all the very best as well 🙂
