Hello everyone!
Today I’m very excited to share that finally I’ve reached 10,000 domains in my portfolio last month. The journey started way back in 2010 when I entered this domain investing business full-time. And like I’ve said in my last post of Afternic August experience that after reaching 10,000 domains, I’ll stop this series of posts.
It was really an exciting journey in sharing the Afternic experiment with fellow investors who poured in wonderful feedback and motivation to keep me going. As everything comes to an end as is this sharing of Afternic experience, however, I’ll continue using the Afternic lander and sharing some exciting sales with you all on a regular basis.
To make this last post the most memorable and exciting, I thought to share the sales in a different way than I’ve done it usually to give it a more colorful look 😀
PowerOfYes.com – I like to invest in phrase domains which have positive and catchy meaning attached to it. Hold time more than 4 years.

—————————————————————————————————————–
LetsManifest.com – This one hold time was 2 years and a GoDaddy closeout purchase.

—————————————————————————————————————–
Wildpines.com – This domain was acquired 5 years ago and had a BIN of $9,888. After going back and forth of negotiation, the buyer agreed to buy it for $9,200. Such 2 word brandable domains are great investments which can be used for many different purposes.

—————————————————————————————————————–
ObsidianManagement.com – The buyer got a nice deal at $1,988 by hitting the BIN. Hold time less than 2 years.

—————————————————————————————————————–
RoofingAustin.com – I don’t actively invest in geo domains but sometimes I buy if I’m getting a good deal. This one doesn’t need explanation. Hold time 4 years and it was sold for $1,988.

—————————————————————————————————————–
TMQS.com – Like I’ve been advocating for many years, investing in 4L .com is always a good idea. But only if you buy the good combinations, price it well and have a good quantity to see the sales occasionally. Hold time was less than a year and the buyer hit the BIN at $9,888. For the past few years I priced all the 4L .com at the minimum BIN of $19,888 but after repricing it last year, I started using $6,888 and even $9,888 BINs to see the changes and here is one of the sales of 4L .com

—————————————————————————————————————–
ModernNutrition.com – Another domain with less than 1 year holding time. This domain was having a BIN of $6,888 but after going back and forth negotiations, the buyer agreed at $6,000.

—————————————————————————————————————–
MaExpert.com – Another BIN sale at BIN for $3,988. I’ve been investing in 2L+strong keyword domains for some years now and the results are good if you buy the right combination together.

—————————————————————————————————————–
Expertree.com – A highly brandable domain which is a mixture of expert + tree = expertree. This domain holding time was more than 8 years and it sold at the BIN price of $3,988.

—————————————————————————————————————–
PmUniversity.com – Like I said it earlier, 2L+strong keyword domains are doing well if you buy the good looking combination. This one was having $3,988 BIN but the buyer was adamant at $3,500 which I eventually accepted.

—————————————————————————————————————–
MGKL.com – A very nice feeling of success by selling another 4L .com and that too in the same month of selling TMQS.com in a gap of a few days. This combination had better letters and more potential of getting higher price, so is the result = $19,888 at BIN.

—————————————————————————————————————–
M3Pharma.com – I predict some of my fellow friends would say I undersold this one so let me admit to it in advance, I sold it cheap at the BIN of $1,988.

—————————————————————————————————————–
EmpireHomes.com – The best domain sale of the last month which had the BIN of $50,000. But all the credits goes to Rich Green for getting the buyer to agree and buy it for $45,000. The buyer initially came in a few months back with an offer of 29,426 which was a pretty odd number, possibly a conversion from a different currency. Thanks a lot Rich for making this deal happen so smoothly and successfully. This one had a hold time of 3 years.

—————————————————————————————————————–
MillieMoon.com – Another BIN sale at $3,988 which is a 2 word brandable domain. Holding time of less than 1 year.

—————————————————————————————————————–
HelpMyDebt.com – A call-to-action 3 words domain sold at the BIN of $1,988. This domain had a holding period of around 2 years only.

—————————————————————————————————————–
InnovationForge.com – I believe in underselling this one as well at the BIN of $1,988 which has a good potential of getting more. But a sale is a sale and I’ve to take it, learn from the experience and get better in the future.

—————————————————————————————————————–
ByCard.com – A few companies who can upgrade to this domain and I suspect one of them has acquired it at the BIN of $3,988. Hold time less than 1 year. This one was under “On Hold” status like most of the sales I notice but this vanished for the first time and then came again under “On Hold” status and later converted into a successful sale.

—————————————————————————————————————–
Xendra.com – Another domain with less than 1 year holding time and the buyer hit the BIN $6,888. This is a brandable domain and can be used by someone named Alexandra.

—————————————————————————————————————–
HaloClothing.com – A two word brandable domain for a clothing business. The buyer got the deal at $1,988. The holding time was 5 years.

—————————————————————————————————————–
BoldCreatives.com – One of the GoDaddy closeout purchases I made in 2022. This buyer hit the BIN at $1,988.

—————————————————————————————————————–
Droxi.com – The buyer came in with an offer of $3,000 where the BIN was $5,888. I remained firm at the BIN price and the buyer revised it to $4,710. After remaining firm at the BIN price, the buyer went silent. I provided a time frame for the buyer to make the payment at $5,888 or the new price will be $9,888 which I changed it under my account but I kept the same old price for this particular buyer. Looking at the transaction, I think the buyer made the payment on the last day of the deadline. Now it forwards to .ai. The deal took almost 2 months from the day lead came in and the payment was made to Afternic.

—————————————————————————————————————–
The number of inquiries for September 2024 were less than 1,500 which is the 3rd lowest number of leads received this year. January still remains the best in terms of number of leads. Even though I’ve added more than 1,000 domains since the beginning of January. There were a total of 21 sales excluding the sales of my sons.
4 was partner registrar sale.
11 sales via GoDaddy search path.
6 sales via Afternic lander.
Total acquisition + holding costs (which includes transfers and renewals) was around $9,500 and the total amount of sales were $142,996.
I wanted to thank my Afternic rep Adam Ramsdell, all the brokers and Afternic platform itself who were involved in making the deals smoothly and professionally.
The above costs and sales amount may look too good for some investors but there is one important thing to keep in mind that I’ve invested well into 7 figures (USD) for acquiring and holding these 10,000+ domains. Also, just the renewal cost is over $120,000 annually. So there are a lot of expenses and money is invested. But overall, I’m in profit and happy with the progress.
I wish everyone a great month ahead and have a lot of sales. Feel free to share your sales and give your feedback on mine if you like to. It doesn’t matter how good or good the feedback is 😉
Congrats Abdul some nice sales there and super helpful to share your methodology.

Will always come back to read your blog and sales as well .
The key words and sales and having the right guide,to carefully select the words that sells is always vital for consistency in sales .
Thank you for your contribution in the domaining community.
Thank you so much Meka! You’ve been always encouraging and your feedback matters a lot to me.
I agree with you on the points for having consistency in sales. Well said! 🙂

Congrats on another amazing month of sales. Very impressive mate. Well done.
Thank you so much Matt! 🙂
Congratulations for hitting a major goal! Your work, persistence and patience is paying off and has helped others along the way.
Sincerely,
Randy
Thank you so much Randy! I’m glad you liked it. I agree with you and I always believe in consistency and this really helps in achieving anything.
Hi Abdul, Thanks for sharing your sales. They are helpful. May I know which Afternic lander are you using? You mentioned that you have BIN listed, but they were sold at offered price.
Thank you Susan! 🙂
I’m using “price request/request price” lander. The lander will not display the BIN/asking price. All the BIN prices are displayed at the registrars where the domain is searched like at GoDaddy.
so why it does not display the BIN prices?
If they have displayed the BIN , you would have sold lots more domains.
Because I don’t want to use BIN lander.
I tried the BIN lander in the past for a few months and shared my experience of why I won’t be using it in the future – https://www.abdulbasit.com/domaining/my-take-on-afternic-ns5-ns6-lander
As always very nice sales. As you wrote that your posts will be less frequen in future, do you still offer your domain consulting service?
Thank you Anjum 🙂
Yeah, I’ll continue offering domain consulting services and you may refer here in case you’re interested – https://www.abdulbasit.com/domain-consulting
Congratulations again, these are super sales. Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much Harmandeep brother 🙂
Feeling sad you won’t be reporting Sales anymore. As a new investor, your sales report has really been helpful to me. 😢
Is there a way you can help give honest review for my names with BIN?
Thank you.
No worries Kelvin as I’ll make sure to share exciting sales which will have something to learn from with details on a regular basis.
You may want to check https://www.abdulbasit.com/domain-consulting if you require my consulting services for your domains.
Congratulations on your continued and amazing success with Afternic!
Unfortunately, despite 1,200 mostly .COM domains many of similar quality, my results have been the exact opposite.
Please continue to share information about your sales and strategy as I don’t think there is enough transparency in this business from successful investors like yourself.
I’d also be curious to know how you classify / categorize your portfolio as getting exposure to the right potential buyers in a very crowded market is a key to success.
Thank you Andy for your feedback and sharing your experience.
One of the most important thing I’ve learnt in this business after amassing 10K domains is that quantity plays a major role to keep the sales flow going in a better way. With your number of domains and similar quality, I suspect you may have priced it in my range as well, and if that’s true then you should expect slowness in sales because most of the sales happen in the range of low 4 figs.
That’s why I’ve a portfolio of around 32% priced at $1,988.
Thank you so much, AbdulBasit, for sharing! It’s much appreciated!
Thank you Mike! I’m glad you liked it 🙂
Very motivating post and thank you for keeping it transparent. As you state sales are great, but investment is a great number too.
Thank you so much Pancho 🙂
I agree with you. Also, I’ll make sure to keep sharing the sales in the future as well.
Congratulations, Abdul Vai
We have learned a lot from you. Thank you!
By the way, do you have any experience with my current situation? One of my domains has been on hold for 9 days. When I contacted Afternic, they initially told me to wait 3 days, and later, 5 working days. However, there has been no update since then.
Thanks for your feedback Omit 🙂
The maximum period of a domain to remain under “On Hold” status is 10 days.
Thanks
Happy & Prosperous New Year!
Just noticed…
1/ Do you price all your domains at BIN?
2/ Do you also set a minimum offer or floor price for domains with BIN?
If so, how close is it to BIN price (eg 10% within)?
3/ Any post for January?
If even to say how much you are enjoying this year so far 🙂
Cheers, John
Thanks and likewise John! 🙂
1) Yes, I’ve priced all my domains with BIN.
2) Yes, all domains have a minimum and floor price set as well. Usually I keep the same floor price as the BIN. If I get any close and interesting to the BIN price, I may lower the price depending on several factors.
3) Hopefully today.
All is great so far this year and hope the same for you as well 🙂
