More Five Figure Domain Sales

Hello and Assalamo Alaikum,

It’s been long time since I shared my domain sales. For the last couple of months I think including this one too, I had 3 domain sales and one was a real special one. For the first time, we leased our domain with having the buyer to make payment for a period of 24 months and later the domain will be transferred to him.

Several months back, I decided to re-list my domains with Sedo to see how things work for me because in the past I didn’t see much response from there. However, I quickly made 2 sales of Buddy.CO and Smooz.com. I had acquired Buddy.CO for may be $29.99 in 2010 and sold for $7,500. It was decent ROI and I always buy domain keeping in mind that it will take 5 years to get sold if I need fruitful profit out of it. Smooz.com was a nice small sale of $3975.

For Buddy.CO, the buyer started off with $100 offer and at the end it was a good deal for both of us.

The domain which has been leased to sell was actually a deal in 5 figures and making consistent money for a period of 24 months is a great thing and I am happy with this new way of selling domain which might not be new for some but I am sure most domainers would love to sell their domains on lease to buy option.

Finally this week I sold another domain for $15,500. Unfortunately can’t reveal the names of last both sales. It took longer than I anticipated but at the end the deal went smooth and buyer was a great guy to deal with.

Care to share your recent sales? I would love to hear it. Any questions, feedback is welcome no matter how good or good it is 😉

Why I stopped using Escrow.com integration from DomainNameSales.com

Hello and Assalamo Alaikum,

I have been using Escrow.com integration from DomainNameSales.com for the past many sales but since few months I have stopped using it because I was not getting affiliate revenue and I used to think that my affiliate link was being used which wasn’t the actual case here. I checked with DNS team and they confirmed that I am not receiving any chunk of sale from Escrow and there was no way of changing to my needs.

I went ahead and turned off the Escrow.com integeration feature from DNS settings. Unless there are changes made at DNS to add my affiliate link, I am not going to use this feature which is really nice but since I am not getting the commission for each sale, I would prefer to use it manually.

So now whenever any deal occurs, I normally provide my affiliate link to the buyer in order to create account at Escrow.com after which I initiate the transaction once the buyer informs about the email ID which he used to open his account.

I thank Escrow.com representative Keith Gettle for informing me that I wasn’t making anything for the past many domain sales due which I stopped using this integration.

I suggest DNS to make some changes so that people can modify their Escrow.com links according to their needs.

Has anyone faced the same issue in the past? Any better suggestions?

Updates on Pheenix domain backordering service

Hello and Assalamo Alaikum,

I have some updates to share about Pheenix – domain backordering company and I fear there will be some people who will stop using their service because starting 19th September 2015, they are going to make public auctions similar to DropCatch which in my opinion isn’t good idea because why one should waste time in finding and placing backorder when others are doing the job. You can simply jump into the auction at the last minute and take over if the domain is coming under your budget. Anyhow, below is the entire email I received from the CEO of Pheenix:

“We’ve been hard at work and have made further updates to our system.

  1. We now support Alipay deposits!

This has been in the works for a while and we are glad that we can offer this great feature now for our customers.

  1. We’ve made our auctions easier and simpler.

Effective Today Sep 7, auctions now start at the backorder price.  When the auction is over, you only pay the auction ‘high bid’ amount.

Before auctions started at 0  and then people would bid.  If the ‘high bid’ ended at $5 then the total price would be $5 + $18.95 = $23.95.

Moving forward, the auctions will start at $18.95.  Once the auction ends, you only pay for the ‘high bid’ from the auction.

We are in a transition period so some auctions which started prior to Sep 7 still have the old architecture, however, after Sep 10 all auctions should follow this guideline.

  1. Public Auctions coming September 19th

All domains that have multiple backorders on it will now be available for Public Bidding for any backorders being released on or after 2015-09-19.

As a precondition, if someone did not have a backorder on the domain name prior to it going to auction, their minimum bid is at least $59 in order to participate in the auction.

Thanks for being a great customer and we’ll have more exciting news coming very soon.

Do you think these changes will have any impact in future for the regular users of Pheenix?

Bathroom is the best place to think of new domain ideas

Hello and Assalamo Alaikum,

This may be surprising to many of you but I wanted to share my personal experience and I am sure at least a few would agree with me 😉

Coming to the point of writing this post is funny but very true at least for me if not for others 😀

Bathroom-is-the-best-place-to-think-of-new-domain-ideas

To be honest, I get many of the new domain ideas and thoughts while I am in bathroom. I think the main reason behind is my mind is free of every stress, old thoughts, daily routine stuff, etc. and there I starts thinking about my work without any interruption. Sometimes I had finished the job but unless the idea hasn’t been cleared I am lost into deep thoughts. Sometimes when there are some temporary issues on going in my life, ideas do come for that too as I always welcome new ideas no matter if they eventually turn out to be fruitful for me or not.

Normally when I comes out, I either save my thoughts in draft and/or inform my wife who is as updated as I am about domains. In fact, we both are handling domains business together.

I am sure many others would be in the same boat of mine but would love to hear your thoughts on this.
