Ranked in top 100 at DomainNameSales.com for receiving domain inquiries

Hello and Assalamo Alaikum,

I wanted to share something really interesting stats with you. Last year I was talking to one of DNS (DomainNameSales.com) broker and he told me that you get lots of inquires for a portfolio of your size. At that time there were 1000 clients on DNS. You get the 25th most leads.

Today I asked him once again to have the latest update and he said that I got 1650 leads so far this year and my portfolio ranks in at the 84th most on the platform out of 1331 people. Considering my small size of portfolio and getting nearly 2k domain inquiries is good indicator with this month still to complete. Also being in the top 100 considering the size of portfolio and leads together isn’t too bad either 😉

Transfer the domain to me because your domain has no active website!

Transfer-the-domain-to-me-because-your-domain-has-no-active-website!Hello and Assalamo Alaikum,
Couple of days back I received an email for one of my domain which I recently acquired and is currently parked at DomainNameSales.com. I laughed at the message and thought who will be the crazy person to follow his instructions. Below is the entire email and I have just changed the domain name.
“Dear Abdul Basit,

My name is Jerome and I am setting up a new website that I would like to name:

MyDomainName.com.

I noticed that you are the owner of this domain but there is no active website. Therefore, I would like to know if you could kindly release it.

I will of course reimburse you one year of domain fee.

Hope to hear from you soon.
Best Regards,
Jerome

How to release a domain name

Note: The following steps assume that you have accessed the Control Panel for the domain name to be renewed.

To non-renew your domain name:

  1. From Manage my Web site, click Domain Manager.  If prompted, log in.
  2. Locate the domain name to be renewed, click the Actions drop-down menu, and select Renew/Cancel. If you do not find the domain name to be renewed on the initial screen, click the Up or Down arrows to navigate to the desired domain name.  Note: If the domain name selected is the only domain name on a Shared Web Hosting account, the non-renewal of the domain name does not constitute the non-renewal of the web hosting account. Domain names are separately billed from web hosting accounts. The reverse also applies. If you cancel a web hosting account that has one or more domain name registrations attached, this will not constitute the non-renewal of your domain names.
  3. If you intend to close your web hosting account, follow the directions found in the 30-day Renewal Notice. You may also close your account from the My Account Options link in the Control Panel.
  4. Click to select No, release this domain name for public registration, then click Continue.  Note: By choosing the non-renewal of a domain name, the domain name in question is removed from the Domain Manager Tool. This removal means that we will not post a renewal request when the renewal is due. The domain will simply expire with the Registrar and applicable registry. If you had purchased private registration for this domain, your private registration will not renew either. The status of your private registration when you chose to non-renew the domain name is carried through to the end of the registration.
  5. Click Finish.

Prior to the release of the domain name for others to register, you will receive a Deactivation Notice. This notice is sent as a reminder that the domain name has been deactivated. The Deactivation Notice means the domain name has been removed from our channel and has been rendered inactive on the Internet. If you do decide to renew at this point, you should contact us immediately so we can attempt to renew the domain name for you. Do keep in mind there is no guarantee that we can renew a deactivated domain name.”

When I didn’t respond to his initial email, today I received second mail from him:

“Dear Abdul Basit,

Could you please have a look at my email and let me know if you are keen to release the domain MyDomainName.com?

As mentioned in my previous email I noticed that there is no active website with this named so I hope that it will be ok for you to release this domain.

I will of course reimburse you one year of domain fee.

I hope that you will consider my request and hope to hear from you soon.

Many thanks.
Best Regards,

Jerome”

He was so kind to offer me one year of renewal or reg fee which he thinks I am currently unable to pay! 😀

Have you received similar email for one of your domains? I personally don’t think this guy can be successful in getting any domain by using this cheap method.

Recent Domain Sales

recent-domain-salesHello and Assalamo Alaikum,

As mentioned in my previous post where I shared parking revenue for October 2014, I promised to share couple of domain sales I completed last month.

First I sold HomeBird.com for $4,500 which will be soon reported in DnJournal next weekly sales report. I bought this domain in three figs several years back. Transaction was really smoothly done and dusted. Previous to this inquiry for HomeBird which turned into successful sale, I had received a total of 14 inquiries. I never thought of receiving that many inquiries until the deal was completed.

Next sale was out of nowhere really. As you know at the start of this year I have myself stopped contacting endusers and wants them to show their interest in buying my domain. But previously I used to send hundreds of emails trying to sell my domain and one was for the domain Jyden.com which I sold for $2,000. I initially contacted the buyer almost 3 years back but the buyer wasn’t satisfied going through Escrow.com and wanted to send money through bank which was acceptable. Still they had problem and asked if they could send $1,000 in between the domain transfer process and remaining 1k after the domain is transferred to them. I refused and the talk stalled there. I tried to educate them as best and our discussions took place for at least couple of months but of no use…

Last month they came back and wanted to proceed with Escrow.com and I was happy to go ahead and finish off. Not a big sale but it was more of a surprise sale for me. Both domains were acquired some years back in three figs each.

Feel free to share your views on those sales and have you made any sales recently?

AbdulBasit.com is now 2 years old

AbdulBasit.com-is-now-2-years-oldHello and Assalamo Alaikum,

Time really flies and it’s over 2 years since the launch of AbdulBasit.com and when it completed the first year I wasn’t aware at all. But this time I thought to remember it and still missed the shot. I still can’t believe it’s over 2 years and it’s an amazing journey. I would like to thank specially those friends like Jason Thompson, Mark, Konstantinos, Paul, Tauseef, Michael Law, Vincent who shook hand with me when my blog was relatively new and gave me respect. Also big thanks to Francois of providing me the platform to share my views, experiences about domains. It’s a great feeling to have my blog at Domaining.com. I may have missed few more to list down.

And without my loyal readers and specially the commenters, it would not be easy to operate the blog. You guys are the boosters and are always needed.

During this period, I saw many ups and down in domain business. Learned many things from fellow friends in domain space. It all started when I acquired AbdulBasit.com and I wanted to share my experience and how I operate my domain business with everyone else and to grasp knowledge from fellow domainers. Although English language is not my preferred language which was a barrier for me to start off at the very beginning but gradually things got smooth and steady.

Our Integration Your Success – DomainNameSales.com

Hello and Assalamo Alaikum,

For some of you this news isn’t new but I still wanted to share because recently I reviewed Uniregistry where I moved 65% of my domains and remaining will be moved there very soon…

Below is the email I received from DNS team and I have highlighted some important points (in bold) which were also the reasons to move to this registrar.

“Dear AbdulBasit,

Your friends at DomainNameSales.com would like to let you know about some exciting changes that will be taking place between now and Q1 2015. Our goal at DNS has always been to help you unlock the value of your domain name portfolio. The tools at DomainNameSales.com were originally developed to help bring liquidity to my portfolio of names; and later to those of InternetTraffic.com clients. To this day I use the same tools available to our customers, to sell my names and to clear transactions. Year to date I have sold more than last years total (12 million dollars) using the DNS platform. It is the platform that makes that possible.

We are very, very proud to see the first full version of Uniregistry reach its completion milestone. It wasn’t until 2 nights ago while managing several thousand names on behalf of a client that I realized the gravity of the site we’ve built. Uniregistry is absolutely the best available domain name registrar for managing large portfolios of names. It works brilliantly with a small number of names and it scales exceptionally if you have a portfolio of many thousands. Using the registrar last night gave me chills because it’s so good; so full featured, so fast and so robust. We set an incredibly high bar and the team here completely eclipsed their ambitions.

This is only the beginning though. With the completion of Uniregistry our development team has turned to the integration of our sales platform (which has brought so much prosperity to so many). In a few short months DNS will debut inside Uniregistry. Regardless of where your names live, you’ll soon be able to load names into the Uniregistry manager to better manage and sell your domain names. Names residing at Uniregistry will have even greater powers to sell than those provided via DNS today. The system will be easier. Uniregistry customers will be able to clear transactions on our merchant credit card system, use our payment-plan system and our integrated escrow services at very low cost. We will also syndicate your inventory across other registrars and large marketplaces to provide more sales inquiries.

In advance of these changes, new innovations keep coming. Recently we launched our Tracker to consolidate and identify names, now Uniregistry’s Documents.link feature (debuting this week), will let you store documents, legal notices and sales inquiries relating to domain-names — all inside the Uniregistry Manager. This useful system lets you email, store and maintain notifications received from outside parties using Uniregistry and the Amazon cloud.

As we integrate, it’s really important for you to become familiar with Uniregistry.com and these new features. Please take the time to create and explore your account, or contact our sales professionals at sales@uniregistry.com, so we can answer any questions and assist you with getting started. Please contact Sevan Derderian sevan@uniregistry.com and Frank Pavilonis frankp@uniregistry.com to schedule a consultation or if you have any questions.

Kindest Regards,

Frank Schilling”
I am always confident that DNS team will always come up with new innovations and it’s exciting to be part of this company. So far it’s great experience with DNS/Uniregistry and I will suggest one to use their platform and I believe you will definitely love it.

Feel free to share your experience with Uniregistry no matter how good or good it has been 😉
