It was in July 2020 when I received an offer of $4,000 on BridgeMoney.com (acquired the domain in partnership with Jamie Zoch) which was then revised to $5,750 as the best and final offer.  At that time the BIN was $12,888. I declined. A month later the buyer came up with $9,000. Again the offer was declined.

Fast forward to 1st April 2022, the buyer came up with $20,000 (with BIN at $50,000 this time). I said that I’ll be accepting very close to the BIN. The buyer came up to $26,000 and said it’s their max budget. Again their offer was politely declined. I gave a deadline during which the buyer didn’t make a reasonable offer to be accepted.

Then on 27th May 2022, Afternic broker was able to bring the buyer up to $41,000 but because I’ve revised the BIN to $100,000, I said to give them $50,000 as floor price and provide them with a 10 days deadline for accepting the offer. Otherwise I won’t be selling even at this price in the future.

And today I got the good news that the domain is sold for $50,000!

I’ve been investing in .CO domains since they were launched in 2010. As of today, I’ve now almost 200 .CO domains and since the launch I’ve had a pretty good success selling domains in this extension. Although the total numbers are pretty less, the sales have always kept me engaged with this extension. Most of them are 3L .CO domains and in 2020 I acquired some ultra premium .CO domains which I’ve shared on my blog in the past.

This month I just concluded a sale of Electra.CO for $50,000 (BIN) via Afternic Fast Transfer and this is so far the highest sale for me in .CO extension. I acquired this domain almost 4 years back through an auction for mid 3 figures. It’s always nice to see the domain getting developed quickly and it’s one of them.

I won a domain from GoDaddy Auctions in March 2019 and somehow forgot to enter into my purchase records. The same day I won another 4 domain auctions which I noted except this one. Since I didn’t note down at my end, I forgot that I should’ve that domain in my account. Because I didn’t add that domain in my records, I even forgot to see that GoDaddy even refunded back the money in the same month into my account which was used for some other purchases because buying domains and incoming refunds is usual when I’m buying in quantity every now and then.

Fast forwarded to 18th January 2022, the domain was suddenly transferred into my account. I checked my records and didn’t find the domain was transferred to me. It was shocking to see that they delivered the domain after 3 years.

Now the real problem started when they transferred the domain into my account after 3 years. The domain remained in my account for the NEXT 30 DAYS and then GoDaddy suddenly took it back on 16th February 2022! This was a huge mess done from GoDaddy because what if this domain was SOLD by me and transferred to the buyer in their GoDaddy account? I already listed the domain with Afternic and Sedo and put up the BIN as well.

But because I didn’t notice that they’d already refunded me back in March 2019, I then called the GoDaddy Premier Services and the guy on call sent me a refund email notification on my request because I told him that I didn’t receive it back then. Also he told me where can I find the refund under my account which I received back in March 2019 in “Good As Gold” credit. Since I didn’t receive any refund email notification at that time, I never knew about it and I made a mistake of not following up for the domain as I keep buying a lot of domains and somehow missed this one.

I contacted my GoDaddy rep and he forwarded my issue to the concerned department and Karen L. Newbury informed me casually that the domain was activated in my account by mistake and she apologized for this issue. I told her that you’ve to understand the seriousness of this issue. What if the domain was sold in those 30 days and I had completed the transaction unknowingly that the domain is not actually mine!? Complete silence from her for the last 9 days even though I sent her a reminder to get back to me with an answer.

How can GoDaddy be so irresponsible and have such a careless attitude towards this serious issue.

I explained to her that suppose this domain was sold by me and I would’ve received the money and then your company would’ve taken back the domain from the new domain owner which would have tarnished my reputation because the buyer can claim the domain was stolen and sold to them which wouldn’t be the case in real.

This shows that GoDaddy may transfer your domain to someone else’s account so make sure you keep a good check on your account of domain movements.

I’m very upset with how they handled it completely right from the time domain was transferred to my account to not responding to my detailed explanation to them.

Many are aware of the ex-registrar Pheenix.com which was at one time a good registrar as well as good at catching dropping domains.

In 2017, I won a backordered domain TEZ.CO via Pheenix.com for $69 with no other bidders. Last week this domain was sold for BIN price via Sedo.com for $19,888.

My suggestion is to always list all your domains at Sedo with a BIN price. Although all of my domains are using Afternic ns3/ns4 landers, I still list all domains with Sedo just to have an additional sale occasionally.

This is the first sale via Sedo this year and the highest .CO sale to date for my portfolio.

Thanks to Sedo for making this transaction smooth and keeping me updated as there was some delay in making the payment from the buyer.

Like I always share my personal experiences using any domain related products/services, this time I wanted to share about DaaZ. I’ve used their external escrow services for several transactions and overall it’s been a fantastic experience.

On every occasion, I was on the buy side. They were super quick in account verification which surprised me. At one stage the seller was even surprised to see the sale was swiftly handled where the seller received the payment within 1.5 hours of the domain being transferred to me. This has never happened while using Escrow.com, Sedo.com, Afternic.com or any other company who verifies the payment, domain transfer verification and releases the payment so quickly!

I would like to thank the entire DaaZ team for handling the transactions very well. Yes, there was a little mishandling in one transaction by DaaZ which was rectified in the next transaction and I’m sure they’ll keep improving their services.

I would also like to bring their attention into one thing which is their external escrow commission which currently stands at 5%. On the other hand, Sedo charges 3%, EscrowDomains.com 3.25% and Escrow.com charges 3.25% which keeps lowering as the sales amount gets higher at both last couple of escrow services mentioned.

If DaaZ can reduce their external escrow fees, that would be more catchy and attractive to use their services in the future.
