My Experience with NamePros.com

There are plenty of domain forums on internet. I joined very selected one’s and left all excluding the only domain forum I really enjoy till now. It’s NamePros.com. I found them through Google while searching for GoDaddy coupon codes and joined them in 2007. I never thought to be active member of this very friendly community. I have found many people helping each other no matter where you are from, who you are and whatever the time is. All are ready to guide you through right path and will share their own experiences.

I have asked numerous times of help and always got what I wanted. In the last 5 years I have made some nice friends. I have tried to get some appraisal on few of my domains which were never really satisfying because I sold for a very different price as compare to what the experts appraised for. The best part of NamePros for me is to keep actively checking GoDaddy Discount Codes thread which has saved me thousands of $$$ to date. I recommend everyone who is domain investor and has a big portfolio must subscribe to this GoDaddy Discount Codes thread if you have domains at GoDaddy.

I have also used this forum to buy and sell domains but very rarely. Most of the domains I sold at NamePros were going to be dropped so whatever money I got was bonus for me 😉 Also those were ccTLDs in which no one showed any interest so getting whatever money for them was the right thing to do.

This forum is recommended to all newbies who are going to jump in domain game. They must go through all important topics at this forum and give proper time to read and understand the views, feedback and suggestions from experts before you invest any money in this game.

Overall my experience with NamePros is superb and is the best domain forum I have ever used on internet. The best part of this community is the people over there are very friendly and cooperative.

Never hide your WHOIS if you want to sell your domain name

I have been buying and selling domains since long time and it’s really awkward to see when a pure domainer is hiding his name and email ID while going through the WHOIS search. I used the word pure domainer because they are into domaining world and knows the pros and cons of this business.

As every domainer is looking to sell their domain names and still hiding the WHOIS which makes no sense to me unless it’s a TM domain or you are not interested in selling domain name now or in near future and for this reason you are trying to avoid receiving any domain inquiries from potential buyers. In this case, it makes sense to me. In other circumstances, I don’t think it’s viable to hide your WHOIS information from general public.

In my early domaining career I put one of my domain behind the curtains and received couple of inquiries a year but since I got rid of that several years back I started receiving frequent inquiries and even people started calling on my cell which was really exciting. To me it makes a lot of difference when you hide and display all contact details.

I would like to know what is your experience with hiding and displaying WHOIS with general public? Do you agree with me or have anything else to say?

Payment method for Pakistanis for buying and selling domain names

Recently I got a comment from my blog reader asking me to share the payment method for Pakistanis for buying and selling domain names. As I am from Pakistan as well and can tell you exactly how the domain buying/selling cycles goes. As we all know PayPal account cannot be made from Pakistan so I am using one of my friend’s PayPal who lives in Singapore. Even without having PayPal account you can buy and sell domains without any hassle.

First you can apply for UBL Wiz card which is Pakistan’s first ever Prepaid VISA Debit Card. You can use it for shopping online and offline, dining, withdraw cash from any ATM worldwide. For more details you can visit here and if you are interested can apply here.

Just make sure you are applying for UBL Wiz Travelers/UBL Wiz Internet because that card has the maximum deposit limit of PKR 200,000. I have this card and using it since last year without any trouble. I am using it for buying domains online and since all major registrars accept cards so feel free to use it anywhere.

For selling domain names there are few Escrow services like Escrow.com, ECOP.com and more. Since I have used Escrow.com for buying and selling domain names. As earlier mentioned UBL Wiz card is also accepted at these escrow services.

If you guys know any other alternative methods for people living in Pakistan just feel free to share so that it will be helpful for us.

Domains I purchased at the end of 2012

It was a fantastic 2012 for me and hope you all had the same. I made some nice acquisitions at the end of 2012 and would like to share with you all. Some of them are LLLL which I think has really bright future because every day thousands of new businesses are setup which makes these short domains more and more valuable as the time goes on…

All these domains receive traffic on daily basis and almost all are type-ins as my focus is to buy type-in domains rather than traffic driven through backlinks.
