Domain sold through GoDaddy Buy Service

GoDaddy Domain Buy ServiceHello and Assalamo Alaikum everyone,

It was my first and last domain sold through GoDaddy Buy Service. The domain was sold once again in four figures and comes under books niche. Interesting thing about this domain was the previous owner somehow dropped the domain and I grabbed it. I knew they would need back and somehow they contacted me once the domain was under my possession. As they were quite hesitant dealing with any escrow service so they opted GoDaddy Buy Service and I listed there for a fixed price which was agreed through email communication.

As this was my first domain sold through GoDaddy Buy Service I selected wire transfer but it was not accepting my bank account number. It was asking me to enter routing number which is not used in Pakistan. I called them but the support guy wasn’t much educated to help me so I emailed them and got no response either. As I had already entered my PayPal ID so they sent me money on my PayPal even though my first choice was to receive funds through wire. The only positive thing using this Domain Buy Service was to receive exactly the same amount with no deduction under my PayPal account.

I re-send the email to their support but again no response. I would never use this particular service again of GoDaddy again in future and will ask my domain buyers to either chose which is first choice of handling domain sales or send me the payment through wire first before I transfer the domain.

In future I will never use GoDaddy Buy Service ever. I know many of you won’t agree with me because there are no issues in your country, you get routing number easily but in my country there is no routing number as far as I know which I confirmed with several other banks as well once the payment was received by GoDaddy. Although I had entered correct account number they still sent the payment through PayPal. I wonder why there is no field of entering my bank name?

Care to share your experience with GoDaddy Buy Service? No matter it was good or bad but would be nice to let others know.

Parking revenue for September 2013 and update

Hello and Assalamo Alaikum everyone,

It was quite slow month in terms of parking revenue as well as domain inquiries received. I thought it would be a better month since summer holidays have gone and will start seeing some activity but that wasn’t the case last month. Mark from was in the same boat as well.

One of my revenue making domain from PPC has declined in the last month and I can see the revenue will be drop a bit more for that particular domain which will have somehow affect on my overall parking revenue. It doesn’t matter much personally but I just wanted to share it. However, I was able to make over US$400 for September 2013. My target was to reach $1,000 for the month of Dec ’13 / Jan ’14 but that seems quite far away. I am still happy the way I am going because my main focus is to buy and sell domains and make side income from them through parking unless they are sold to the right person.

On the other hand, I have been contacted by team member who informed me about the new features and after discussing with him I enabled the dead lead follow-up feature where all the hardworking and intelligent brokers from DNS team giving their 100% on each of my domain inquiries which are not active for the past 30 days. It was really amazing to see that I had received hundreds of inquiries since I have joined them.

If you have your domains parked with DNS and get decent number of inquiries than I would suggest you to enable this follow up service which you can find under your control panel click settings on top and auto assignment, old lead management. From there you can select 30 days, 45 and 60 days. I have selected 30 days which seems good for me.

Although I haven’t done any sale with this follow up feature but it looks really good to see inquirers are responding well and since we have enabled at the end of previous month so it may take some time to get clear picture.

So have you seen fall off in the previous month in terms of domain parking and/or domain inquiries?

Domain Appraisal Scam from

Domain-Appraisal-Scam-from-asp-web-hosting.bizHello everyone,

Today I received an email which is clearly scam and I wanted to share with all. If you have got anything similar scam please let everyone know. Below is the initial email I got from the scammer named “Aaron Weitzman”.

My client is an investor from UAE (Dubai.) He doesn’t speak English well and I will help him to purchase your

Please respond and specify a desired price in the subject line.

If you have other names for sale please email me your list with prices.

Aaron Weitzman

Swiss VP Hosting”

The time I opened the email something flashed my mind that it’s scam email. I still wanted to confirm first and Googled it and found Morgan Linton’s post which confirmed by gut feeling. I still wanted to play with this guy and asked him to make an offer and the reply was:

“My client offers $7500 for your domain.
My investor has $230,000 budget for 30-40 domain names. How can we pay you: Credit card/Wire transfer/PayPal or Western Union?

Are you a member of domain forums? Probably, we know each other under some nicknames?

Best regards,

I wanted to get more information from him as how he deal with others so I told him that I got both singular and plural version of the same domain you have showed interest so give me offer on both domains together if you are interested. His next reply was:

“I get 10% on every sale. Of course, his budget has some limits but he can afford to buy names at high prices.

Ok. Before he makes the payment he needs only one thing from you. Before he makes the payment he needs only one thing from you:

Do you have an official appraisal (certificate of current market price)?

He also needs to know you have no trademark problems. It won’t be a problem for you since some official appraisers offer this option (trademark infringement verification) as a bonus to the appraisal service. It will take only 2 minutes to order it.

Without the appraisal we cannot be 100% sure in the final sale price. The appraisal will help determine the true value of your domain’s worth so you can maximize profits during the sale. On the other hand, it will minimize our risks too.

You shouldn’t worry about the the appraised value. It will be high if you order it at the right place.  I have connections with an official appraisal company. I send them clients and they appraise names at the values my clients need.  If you order the appraisal at any other source  you risk to get a low value (200-300 usd). You will waste money and time in his case. My client is a rich person and I work on a commission basis. So I’m not interested in low figure appraisals.

To avoid mistakes and wasting money on useless automated services I asked about reliable manual valuation/TM verification services. Please read this:
The process is very easy:
1. Go to the appraisal site and order the valuation with the TM verification. After several hours you will get the results.
2. Send these results via email and we’ll proceed with the deal.

If you are new to the appraisal process I can help you with a step by step instructions.”

Now there are 3 things through which I thought this was scam. First, this was received in spam/junk box. Although that doesn’t guarantee the email is scam because I already posted earlier about why you should check your spam box but most of the time emails received in spam box are real junk but you must check each mail as you might miss an opportunity. Secondly, the domain he used doesn’t look to be serious buyer. A 3 word hyphenated name and that too with .biz extension. Last but not least, when I received his first response in which he offered me $7,500 for a domain which is worth $5-8k to me. Who is crazy enough to start his initial offer with $7.5k for a domain worth less than $10k. Does it make sense to any one?

Please share this with other fellow domainers and people who even has 1 domain under their name. This can be helpful to any of them. We must save innocent people from falling in this trap. If you have received an email from any domain appraisal scammers feel free to share it.

Breaking: acquired by

Hello everyone,

Couple of hours back I received an email from which in short says they have recently agreed to be acquired by Below is the email I am going to share in case you haven’t got one:

“We have some exciting news to share with you. Afternic has agreed to be acquired by GoDaddy. This will be made public later today but as a valued member of Afternic we wanted you to hear it from us first. This has some powerful benefits for you and our industry.

First, Afternic will continue to operate under the Afternic brand. Your account services will remain in place to support you. Your business terms with Afternic will remain the same and you will continue to manage your account directly from the control panel.

Second, GoDaddy will be joining Afternic’s Fast Transfer network, meaning your domains will be available on a Fast Transfer basis to GoDaddy’s massive audience of customers seeking a domain. Fast Transfer domains enjoy by far the highest sales velocity so this should translate into incremental revenue for you.

Most important, GoDaddy is making this move as an endorsement of Afternic as the industry standard by which cross-registrar fulfillment of aftermarket transactions can occur. Afternic will operate as an industry utility. The adoption of—and investment in—this technology ensure that that the domain industry can reduce friction and increase velocity of aftermarket domain sales.

We believe these changes will benefit our industry as we move towards an increasingly distributed and unified domain aftermarket and are excited to work with you to realize this vision.

We’ve included some questions and answers about the transaction. We invite you to contact your Afternic representative with any other questions you may have.

Warm regards,

Kelly Conlin
Chairman and CEO

In my opinion this is great news for the whole domain industry. Although I have done very little business with Afternic in the past but hopeful to do more in the future.
